IRPA is sad to announce the death of one of its former Presidents, Professor John Lakey. John was the IRPA President for the term 1988 – 1992, which followed an eight year contribution to the IRPA Executive Council as Publications Director. John spent many years of his working life as a Director of Nuclear Science and Technology at the Royal Naval College at Greenwich, in the UK, and he was very active in international relations in radiation protection. He was President of the Society for Radiological Protection in 1976/7. We send our condolences to his family.
