IRPA Associate Societies represent a valuable network of expertise in radiation protection. In addition to the access to health physics professionals represented by the Associate Societies, some of the larger Society Web Sites offer links to a number of Internet information resources.
Several international organizations are involved in activities related to measurement and protection for ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. These organizations are particularly valuable in the development of consensus standards for regulatory and technical purposes that are very valuable references.
A large number of organizations have been established at the national level worldwide that address regulatory and technical needs for radiation protection. Although these organizations are intended to meet the needs of their respective countries, their publications, data bases and other resources can often have universal value for answering radiation protection questions.
Individual organizations, universities, etc. have developed specialized resources that can be used for radiation measurement and control. These include, but are not necessarily limited to databases and calculational tools.
